After the handover from the previous operator Steigenberger was completed on schedule at the turn of the year, the DI Gruppe has now been commissioned by the owners to reposition the third hotel as an owner-managed, top-class individual hotel.

“We will emphasise the unmistakable advantages of the ‘Strandhotel Zingst‘ even more strongly. Guests will realise that their needs are more important than ever. To this end, we will also invest heavily in the hotel,” emphasises DI boss Benedikt Jagdfeld, who manages the hotel on behalf of institutional investors. Last year, these investors approved investments of around € 7.3 million to fundamentally modernise and expand the first hotel on the square.

As an owner-managed individual hotel, the previous classification as a 4-star plus hotel has been deliberately dispensed with. “Quality doesn’t need stars, it speaks for itself. We prefer to invest in improving this quality, which guests can feel directly, rather than in this certification,” says Jaschke.

The first modernisation work is due to start this year. In addition to redesigned hotel rooms and suites, the plans also include a larger spa area with saunas and a new restaurant concept, including the public areas.

Realising the new promise of the “Strandhotel Zingst” is now the task of Kai Harmsen, Jaschke’s first man on site: the experienced hotel manager replaces Steigenberger man Markus Wöllflik as director with immediate effect. 53-year-old Harmsen trained at the “Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten” in Hamburg and most recently managed the “Lindner Hotel & Spa Binshof” in Speyer. However, he also knows Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and the coast very well from his positions on Rügen, in Wismar and on Sylt.

Nothing will change for the employees at the “Strandhotel Zingst”. With the exception of the director, they have always been employed by the company that owns the hotel.
