Due to recent press reports stating that descendants of the Adlon family have filed an action for the retransfer of the property and Hotel ADLON before the Berlin Administrative Court, questions and errors have arisen due to a lack of knowledge, which are hereby answered and corrected.

The legal owner of the Hotel ADLON and the property is Jagdfeld Hotel-Adlon FUNDUS FONDS Nr. 31 KG (ADLON Fund for short), headed by its founder and managing director Anno August Jagdfeld. The descendants’ lawsuit is expressly not directed against them, but against the state of Berlin.

Even in the unlikely event that the plaintiffs win their case against the public authorities, there is no possibility of the land and/or hotel being transferred back to them, only monetary compensation. Regardless of the outcome of the legal dispute, nothing will change for the more than 4,000 ADLON investors.

Anno August Jagdfeld had today’s ADLON rebuilt in 1997 against much opposition and has been managing the business of the Adlon fund as a personally liable partner ever since. Kempinski operates Germany’s most prominent hotel as a tenant and is not the owner.
